Feedback from our final piece:

Strengths: Good background, good title, good pictures, good editing, original background, good use of footage and pictures.

Improvements: Some photos out of focus, end title too long, duck film logo crowns not in sync, film logo needs to be quicker and the end title, opening titles are too slow, some sound out of sync, bad acting, editing could be better as timing was bad.

Target audience: Teenage girls and mothers.

developed from Juno :

- stylized the opening sequence similar to Juno, we used a notepad / diary look to create an stereotypical romantic comedy opening.

- sound track basic no vocals simplistic to match the tempo of the footage, basic Juno traits

- both beginnings explain the background of the story and the progression in which the beginning takes place.

contrast :

- non - cartoon form when juno goes in and out .

- Juno has more transitions , moving background with fade in /outs.

- has a longer walking scene with other characters

- light hearted soundtrack where as ours is slightly dark

- less talking in juno more in ours

- only 2 locations in ours many in Juno

How does you media product represent particular social groups?

A character which we found had similar representational issues was from the film Juno. We looked at this opening sequence and liked the way the film opened and have found that one of our characters has similar representational issues. We found that they have similar representational issues because the sequence is of a similar style as both characters begin walking down a street. They also have similar representational issues as they both are not typical feminine girls. We included this in our piece as there is a contrast between the two main characters. Therefore this has elements of a typical romantic comedy, however there are parts which you would not expect to be included.

We had a rough cut of video which we were going to include in our final piece. However We had a change of plan and we have now decided to be very abstract with our ideas due to only having two different locations in our footage. We have now added in some images to go with the footage and we have stylized our piece with the background being a notepad with images fading in and out of the piece, followed by doodles symbolizing a natural notepad. The main title at the end is all of the doodles combined together to create the title: In too deep.

merged the sound tract and the footage together for rough cut really really rough... the title page is really good

basic lined paper with writing and doodling that appears around the worlds " in too deep" produced in photo shop.

we changed our story board again ;

its now two girls on the phone in different places, during the conversation one of the girls dares the other to date some guys . getting the gist of rom-com with how the boys are such as

1st boy is weird
2nd boy looks mining
3rd boy is ok and who she wants to date.

first location of the girl is walking along the street the other is in her bedroom relaxing with a laptop and phone.

3 boys are random friends of holly's just pictures but hopefully will advance into moving footage.

due to weather conditions our filming and story has to be changed to inside because the rain /snow does not give the desired affect . originally the story was meant to be outside on a green field. changes to the story have been made for it to be inside having tracking shots along the corridors and rooms .

We were able to produce a production logo for Yabb productions. In the logo there is ducks with crowns. the ducks were chosen for the logo as the film opening we will produce will be for a comedy, therefore we thought by using ducks it would be comical.

Analyzing Opening Sequence.

We chose Hot Fuzz...

We chose it because it's interesting and different to other comedy films. The titles consist of a narrating voice over the top and almost like a story so far in the life of the character.

Camera Work:

Wide Shot, Slow Zoom, Long Shot, Fast Zoom, Close Up, Tracking - Lots, Freeze Frames, Zoom Out, Mid Shot, Over The Shoulder and Depth Of Field.

The camera work makes the clip very jumpy and fast so you are constantly focused on the clip and the main character involved. The titles introduce the main character and only the main character. The quick zooms keep you on the edge of your seat and the tracking makes you follow the character along his life journey so far.

Editing:

Cut Aways, Transitions - Lots, Match On Action and Side Swipe.

The cut aways our fast and jumpy so you are involved immediately with the character and what he has done. It creates the feeling that you are getting his life in 3 mins all round up and brief.

Sound:

Diegetic and Non - Diegetic, Soundtrack and City and Office sounds, Voice Over.

The sounds both create a fast, adrenaline rush that makes you want to know more about the character as it sounds more interesting.

Mise-En-Scene:

Police Station, Training Camp, Streets and Houses.

Police Uniform, Guns, Training Equipment, etc...

Natural and a little fake lighting.

The locations make it feel quite strict and police like, so it gives the feeling of a really high achieving police officer that wants to go even further than he has.

Titles:

Only 4 main Big, Bold, White, And Plain titles at the very beginning.

The titles are very impact and plain white which gives it a stern powerful, 'in charge-ness' feel to it.

Conventions:

The scene only shows the main first character which is different and interesting because it leaves you wandering about the other characters. It only shows the police locations so this also doesn't give much away and makes you wonder what the rest of the places are going to look like. The music is normal to other titles as it creates a difference to the actual film but has a narrator over the top so you know what is happening. The style is modern, fast and has a comedic side to it at the end to create a difference, you think it's serious but it brings you back at the end when there is comedy so you loose focus slightly. There is a lot of english police reference mentioned throughout.
